Anita

Every child has the right to have at least one parent who loves and cares about her. But
this was not the case for Anita. Abused, abandoned, repeatedly rejected and left in pain,
Anita survived. She rose above her unjust life of hurt and pain, and has proven to the world and those she loves that anything can be overcome. Still a teenager, she has excelled in her studies and many other aspects of her life.

Read an excerpt of Anita's story

Anita has not lived with her mother since she was eight, in the second grade. They don’t talk anymore and Anita hasn’t seen her mom for a decade. Life moves on.

As an exceptional student with a drive that isn’t equaled by many, Anita has many dreams. She recently graduated from Palm Beach Gardens High School where she was a Florida Association of Student Councils Parliamentarian, District V Treasurer of the Florida Association of Student Councils, Palm Beach Gardens High School Student Government Parliamentarian, a student minister for First Priority, and President of the Palm Beach Gardens High School Debate Team. As if that is not enough, she also writes for the Student Operated Press and volunteers in her community. Her other activities include working, babysitting, friends, and writing for a local paper.

Graduation presented her with three diplomas. Her first was for completing high school. She also received a diploma for First Responding—a person who acts on the scene of an accident or medical emergency, and another for completing the Pre-Med program. She is working hard to prepare for her college years.

August, 2007, has taken Anita into one of her dreams, that of going to FAU Honors College in Abacoa and studying biology in preparation for medical school. In addition, another dream is to one day open a safe place for women and children and possibly run for either the Florida Senate or Florida Governor.  One goal she has is to write a New York Times best seller, a book of her own. Whatever vocation she puts her energy into must involve helping people in some beneficial way.
